This afternoon, Jeff Zalaznick, Mario Carbone, and Rich Torrisi started serving lunch at their Greenwich Village Italian-American hot spot, Carbone. The dining room has a completely different vibe during the day. According to reports from a handful of day one diners, the new menu is basically a slimmed-down version of the dinner menu, with the addition of meatballs and a triple-decker sandwich made with beef carpaccio. The latter costs $31. Carbone fans will probably love the new lunch options, and the Carbone haters will just have more things to kvetch about.
Carbone is open for lunch from noon till 3 p.m., Monday through Friday. Reservations are available on OpenTable.
