Lure Fishbar Owner Negotiates New Lease With Landlord

Fear not, Lure Fishbar fans: Restaurateur John McDonald has negotiated a new lease with landlord Peter Brant. Earlier this fall, there were rumors that Brant was planning to raise the rent by an "exorbitant amount," which could have forced the restaurant to leave its home at 142 Mercer Street. Many longtime customers voiced their outrage at the rumors on Twitter, using the hashtag #savelurefishbar. But now, a new deal has been worked out, and Lure is here to stay.

John McDonald tells Eater: "Ultimately, Peter Brant and I worked out a 10-year deal that is good for everyone involved, we can put the rumors of closing to rest, and focus on the future and keep making Lure better. It went down to the wire but timing wise it was key given we are opening Lure Miami in November."
