Danny Meyer is branching out into the world of airline food. Today, Meyer's Union Square Hospitality Group announces a new partnership with Delta that will bring food from USHG chefs to the tray tables of London-bound airplanes. Starting in February 2014, Blue Smoke's executive chef Kenny Callaghan and chef de cuisine Jeffrey Held will create "BusinessElite Express Meals" that will be served on Delta's three daily flights from JFK to Heathrow. The Blue Smoke team will also make a "signature cocktail" to go along with this meal. Recently, USHG opened a branch of Blue Smoke in Delta's Terminal 4 at JFK, along with a Shake Shack location. If the Blue Smoke meals are a hit, expect more USHG restaurant collaborations with Delta down the road.
