Beloved Red Hook Tavern Sunny's Bar Springs Back to Life

A reminder: Sunny's Bar reopens tonight, 10 months after being devastated by Hurricane Sandy. The iconic bar celebrates its return with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and speeches at 7:30 p.m., followed by a BBQ, live music, and cake, since it also happens to be Sunny Balzano's 78th birthday. Sunny and partner Tone Johansen did not qualify for a disaster assistance loan, but they raised about $35,000 from a Kickstarter campaign last fall, plus another $20,000 from an IndieGogo campaign in the spring.
