The Keith McNally rumor du jour is that he is planning a restaurant in the new hotel/condo that's being built in the Temple Court building at 5 Beekman Street. Tribeca Citizen first floated the rumor that McNally was planning a restaurant here last week. The gossip was that this might become the new home of Balthazar, which could be forced to move. But now industry sources whisper that Sir Keith is working on a new restaurant that won't be French like Balthazar, or Italian like Pulino's, but rather an establishment focusing on steaks, chops, and other grilled meats. Word on the street is that McNally has also worked out a deal with his landlord at Balthazar, so that restaurant is safe for now. Eater has reached out to McNally, but he has yet to confirm or deny these rumors.
A joint venture called GB Lodging, which was involved with the construction and financing of the Ace Hotel, is developing the project in the Temple Court building. This would be McNally's first-ever hotel restaurant.
