Here's a look around Hometown, a new Red Hook barbecue restaurant from Brooklyn-born pitmaster Billy Durney and Warren 77 restaurateur Christopher Miller. The restaurant will serve things like baby back ribs, jerk chicken, chopped brisket, and "smoked lamb belly banh mi." On the Hometown website, Durney describes his style as "classic American barbecue steeped in tradition and history yet done with a little Brooklyn flair." Before getting into the barbecue game, Durney was a bodyguard to the rich and famous.
The restaurant was originally slated to open last fall, but Hurricane Sandy damaged the space. Durney hopes to open Hometown the week of September 9. Check out the dining room and a sample menu:
