New, 9 comments

NOHO — A tipster writes in that First Lady Michelle Obama dined at Peasant with her daughters and a cohort of secret service on Saturday night, on the recommendation of White House chef Sam Kass. She dined on salad, fish, veal, and chocolate bread pudding, and "gave the restaurant staff and guests the famous 'thumbs up' as she left." [EaterWire]

WEST VILLAGE — The Windsor is offering some specials for the start of college football season this weekend. All Thursday, Friday, and Saturday the bar will offer happy hour specials like half-price wine and pitchers of Bud Light, $5 draft beers, and a burger plus two glasses of beer or wine for $25. And the first four schools with 50 fans to email pickmyschool@windsorparknyc.com will win a private takeover of the upstairs lounge and a hour-long open bar on game day. [EaterWire]

FAST FOOD —Burger King is jumping into the novelty burger game, with plans to introduce a "French Fry Burger" in all its restaurants on September 1. Said burger, however, is "basically a standard beef patty topped with four of the chain's French fries." [~EN~]
