Joe Dobias and Jill Schuster closed their East Village restaurant JoeDoe with plans to reopen it in a few weeks as a new restaurant called Joe & MissesDoe. The message on the restaurant's homepage reads: "Coming soon...see you after our wedding." In a vows profile in the Times, Schuster explains that they first met at a diner, where she was a waitress and he was a chef: "I ran the food to the wrong table...Joe, being a Type A, yelled at me. He told me to get my head out of the clouds."
Time Out New York notes that Joe & MissesDoe will be a "blue-plate-special spot," with a menu that will include things like French dip dumplings and duck confit tacos. The space will feature a retro "food & drink" marquee sign and kitschy decor. It's slated to open next month, and Joe and Jill plan to reopen JoeDoe somewhere else in the spring.
