It sounds like Gabriel Kreuther will stay at The Modern in Midtown through the end of the year. The chef tells Flo Fab: "When I walk out of here I want to be sure the restaurant is in good hands." Danny Meyer says that he has "no interest in changing how the restaurant feels." Meyer and his crew are beginning a search for the new executive chef.
Kreuther tells the Times that he's already lined up investors for his solo project, but they haven't settled on a space yet. He wants to open a French-Alsatian restaurant, but he tells Flo: "I'm aware of where I am working now, so it would also have to be French-American." The restaurant will be somewhere in Manhattan, and if everything goes according to plan, it could open in the second half of 2014.
