Achilles Heel Barbecue; Shalom Japan Opening Soon

GREENPOINT —Andrew Tarlow's hot new bar Achilles Heel is going to start a Monday night barbecue, with grilled sausages from Marlow & Daughters. The barbecue series starts next week. [EaterWire]

WILLIAMSBURG — Shalom Japan, the Jewish and Japanese food mash-up from Aaron Israel of Mile End and Sawako Okochi, formerly of Annisa, is set to open at the end of the month. In an interview with the Jewish Daily Forward, the pair give a little preview of the menu, which will include things like pastrami stuffed chicken and chickpea tofu. [JDF]

PARK SLOPE — L'Albero dei Gelati, a gelateria and cafe mini-chain that is something of a cult favorite in Italy will open its first American outpost Brooklyn on July 18. They will serve pastries, sandwiches, wine and gelato, which comes in savory flavors like bell pepper with aged cheese as well as the usual sweet flavors. [Park Slope Stoop]
