LAUNCHES AND RELEASES — A new service called Last Minute Eatin' offers information about day-of reservation availability at the city's hottest restaurants. Just follow @LastMinuteEatin to check out which tables are available, and follow the links to OpenTable. The service is totally free. [EaterWire]
GOOD DEEDS — In an effort to cut down on plastic waste, all the restaurants in Mario Batali and Joe Bastianich's group will be instituting a "straws on request policy." Starting next month, guests will get "paper or compostable" straws unless they ask for plastic straws, and the restaurants are already using bamboo stirrers. A rep notes that the "restaurant group alone could remove a quarter of a million straws and stirrers from the waste stream in a given year." Head over to Eater National for more information. [~EN~]
WILLIAMSBURG — Grub Street notices that Oddfellows Ice Cream Co. is now serving foie gras ice cream. It's only available as a single scoop. [EaterWire]
