Looking for something to do this weekend? Here are five choice dining events going on around the city:
1) Bushwick Block Party
When: Today, noon to 11 p.m.
Where: Moore St., between Bogart & White Sts.
What: The Bushwick Block Party returns this afternoon for the fourth year running. The lineup of vendors is strong, featuring food from Roberta's, Yuji Ramen, Action Bronson, Crif Dogs, Arancini Brothers, and Red Hook Lobster Pound. There will also be plenty of beer, shots of Fernet Branca, live music, and photo booth set up around the street. Check out the event map here.
2) Brooklyn Luau
When: Today, starts at 5 p.m.
Where: RES
What: This evening there will be a Brooklyn Luau in the garden at Res, the new restaurant/culinary lab from the minds of Frank Falcinelli and Frank Catronovo. Expect frozen drinks, tropical barbecue snacks, and other forms of "island fun." The event is pay-as-you-go and cash only.
3) Dinner & a Movie Pop-Up
When: Sunday, 7p.m. & 9:15 p.m.
Where: Eyebeam
What: This summer, Monkey Town, the Williamsburg bar and restaurant that shuttered in 2010, is bringing back their cinema-and-dining-room concept in a limited, two-month engagement. Each night, 32 guests will watch video art on four massive projection screens while eating a multi-course meal cooked by a rotating lineup of notable chefs. And tomorrow evening, Fred Hua, the man behind Brooklyn's beloved sandwich shop Nhà Tôi, is cooking the meal. Tickets to this installment of the series are $50.
4) LIC Market's Third Anniversary
When: Today, 10 a.m. to 11 p.m., and Tomorrow, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Where: LIC Market
What: This weekend LIC Market turns three, and they're celebrating with a pig roast and clambake. There will also be half-priced mimosas, beer buckets, whole lobsters, and "other surprises." It's $25 to join in the festivities.
5) 3rd Ward's Pig Roast
When: Today, 2 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Where: 3rd Ward
What: And if you need more pig in your life this weekend, head over to 3rd Ward for their sixth annual pig roast. There will be pulled pork sandwiches and sides galore, all made by Vinny Campos, the chef at their upcoming in-house restaurant Fitzcarraldo. There will also be live music, art workshops, and double dutch aerobics. Entry into the event is free, just pay for food and drinks as you go.
Also of Note: Smorgasburg is open for business this weekend from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., with vendors like Dough, Blue Marble Ice Cream, and Porchetta.
