Colin Devlin, the restaurateur behind Dumont and Dressler, was found dead in his car near a cemetery in Fogelsville, Pennsylvania this morning. A law-enforcement official said that Colin died from an apparent self-inflicted gun shot wound. Devlin was 42.
The restaurateur disappeared after a meeting with his restaurant group on Wednesday. A police official tells the Wall Street Journal, "He had received news about being declined for a business loan, and his businesses were in financial decline." Devlin reportedly texted his wife on Wednesday night asking that she take care of their children, and she told the police that he might be headed to Pennsylvania where they had a second home that had a gun. Devlin's most acclaimed restaurant, Dressler, closed earlier this year.
