The Soho House has decided not to let a little thing like overwhelming community opposition cause a change in its Lower East Side expansion plan. That's why last week, the international members only hotel chain and club filed a liquor license application with the New York State Liquor Authority, even though Community Board 3 and its various committees refused to issue any vote of support for the project. The club, which is owned by international playboy Ron Burkle, has already purchased the former factory space on the Lower East Side and will most likely be touting the economic benefits that its expansion will bring. The SLA board meets at the end of July, so stay tuned.
