Mega-restaurateur Stephen Starr has teamed up with Jesse Camac and the Fatty Crew with plans to open Fatty restaurants in London and eight U.S. cities. Crain's reports that the two groups will roll out restaurants in Washington D.C. and Philly first, but no word yet on where Fatty Starr (unofficial) will expand to after that. Stephen Starr explains: "I love their operation and I love their name...We want to be a part of their growth, and I think with our name and their culinary credentials, we can do really well."
Starr Restaurants will manage the day-to-day operations, and the Fatty Crew will work on creating the "dining experience" and "city-specific menus." In case you're wondering, Zak Pelaccio is still up in Hudson, NY, cooking at Fish & Game, the restaurant he opened without the Fatty Crew. The Crain's article notes that he's still a partner in the group, but he "stepped out of the day-to-day operations two years ago." Pelaccionator might work on the menus for the new restaurants. The Washington D.C. Fatty restaurant should open by the end of the year.
