Danny Bowien's Mexican restaurant in the old Noodle Bar space will be called Mission Cantina, the Post reports. A spokesperson for the Mission Chinese Food chef/restaurateur tells the Post that the design and seating plan are being worked out right now. Bowien hasn't released any details about the menu or overall concept.
Danny's cooking is playful and he loves to reinvent traditional dishes, so this probably won't be totally straightforward Mexican fare. But you never know — maybe he just wants to bring Mission-style burritos and tacos to NYC. All the Bay Area expats in this city would salute him for that. Mission Cantina is slated to open this fall.
UPDATE: From Danny Bowien on Twitter: "Rumors are rumors. Tequila bar? I think not. Spokesperson? Who? What?"
