Earlier this month, actress Debi Mazar and her husband, chef Gabriele Corcos?who together host a Cooking Channel show called Extra Virgin?tried to open a new restaurant in the old Fornino Park Slope space, backing off after the landlord hiked the rent. Now, Corcos confirms to the Brooklyn Heights blog that he will be taking over as executive chef of the Brooklyn Heights Italian restaurant Bevacco. The restaurant, by the owners of Bar Toto in Park Slope and a couple of other Italian restaurants, has been open since 2011.
Corcos tells Eater that the reason for signing on with an already-established restaurant rather than opening his own is that it cuts down on the waiting before he's able to start cooking. His new menu should be out by Friday.
