Whole Hog Barbecue Party, Craft Beer Festival, and More

Looking for something to do this weekend? Here are five choice dining events going on around the city:

When: Sunday, 12 to 4 p.m. & 5 to 9 p.m.
Where: Arrogant Swine
What: Tomorrow afternoon, Arrogant Swine and John Brown Smokehouse are hosting a celebration of traditional North Carolina whole hog barbecue, craft beers, and heritage pig farming. A whole hog from Tamarack Hollow Farm will be slow-smoked and served with the proper garnishes and sides. There will also be all-you-can-drink craft beer from Founders Brewery and a live bluegrass band. Tickets are $41, or $51 for VIP access, which gets you early access to the event. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to Just Food NYC.

When: Today, 1 to 3:30 p.m. & 6 to 8:30 p.m.
Where: Webster Hall
What: Beat the heat this afternoon at the summer edition of the NYC Craft Beer Festival. Upon entry, guests will receive a tasting glass, which can be used to sample 2 ounces of over 150 different summer craft beers from all over the country. Food will be available for purchase, several seminars, and live jazz. A limited amount of tickets are still available online here for $55.

SOSFattyCue-001.jpg3) Smoked Out Sundays
When: Sunday, 12 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Where: Fatty 'Cue Brooklyn
What: The Brooklyn location of Fatty 'Cue kicks of its backyard party series tomorrow afternoon. It's $35 for unlimited brisket tacos, pulled pork sandwiches, and keg beer, or $50 for all that plus access to the house open bar. There will be music all afternoon as well.

When: Sunday, 1 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Where: Dassara
What: Tomorrow afteroon, Sera Lavelle and Martin Høedholt of the Revolving Dansk are hosting a pop-up Danish dinner at Dassara. The duo will be sharing their family recipes for Danish dishes like frikadeller (meatballs) and Copenhagen street food-style like pølser (sausages). There will also be drink specials available. If the weather cooperates, the meal will be served on Dassara's outdoor patio. Entry is free, but food prices will vary.

When: Today, doors open at 7 p.m.
Where: City Winery
What: This evening, City Winery is putting together a night of wine and music as part of a series of summer tasting events. Tonight will feature the musical stylings of Carlos Santana (its his birthday) and nine different wines. Tasting notes will be provided to explain what each wine is and why it's paired with a particular song. The tasting is $35 per person. N.B. Carlos Santana will not be performing live.

2012_05_smorgasburgAlso of Note: Smorgasburg is open for business this weekend from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., with vendors like Red Hook Lobster Pound, Blue Marble Ice Cream, and Hash Bar.
