Status: Opens Tonight
Tonight marks the debut of Luksus, the 26-seat Greenpoint restaurant from chef Daniel Burns, previously of Noma, The Fat Duck, and Momofuku's culinary lab. The restaurant is located in the back of Tørst, the popular new beer bar that Burns opened along with Danish brewer Jeppe Jarnit-Bjergsø.
Luksus serves a $75 tasting menu made up of snacks and four substantial courses. As at Tørst, there are strong Nordic elements in both the design and the food, though it's fair to bet that a chef with Burns' pedigree will be bringing plenty of new, personal, and delicious ideas to the table. Among the dishes he's previewed so far are roasted baby gem lettuce with mushroom, pea broth, and egg yolk, as well as a preparation of raw razor clams with bone marrow, radish, and cucumber vinaigrette. The beverage program is made up only of beer, as Jarnit-Bjergsø and Burns have said before that it is their goal to create a serious, beer-centric restaurant.
Reservations can be made online or by phone, but it's looking like there's limited availability for the next two months.
