Williamsburg was thrown for quite a scare in late May when it appeared that dive bar favorite the Levee had gone out of business. It turns out that the paperwork for their liquor license renewal got lost in the mail. The bar's owners took advantage of the situation by using the past six weeks to make some improvements to the bar, and checked in with some great news. The SLA has approved their license renewal, and they are just waiting on the physical license to arrive in the mail before re-opening. Co-owner Susan Surdacki says they are hoping to open on Friday night, and then will be throwing a big customer appreciation party on Sunday, July 21 with free beer and swag. Check the Levee's Facebook page for information on the big weekend.
