Dave Arnold Kickstarting Food Museum's Cereal Exhibit

New, 2 comments

The Museum of Food and Drink?that partnership between Booker & Dax cocktail whiz Dave Arnold and Heritage Foods USA's Patrick Martins?has launched a Kickstarter campaign to get its very first exhibit off the ground. The exhibit is called BOOM!, and (perhaps unsurprisingly) features that 3,200-pound puffing gun that was used to make puffed cereals like Kix in the early 1900s. They have the puffing gun and are using this campaign to raise money for a platform, trailer, and operating funds to turn it into a mobile exhibit about cereal. A huge number of big-name food people testify for the campaign in the official video, including David Chang, Wylie Dufresne, culinary history Jessica Harris, Anita Lo, Brooks Headley, and Mario Batali.

And in case anyone fears this will be a one-off, Martins in the video articulates his goal for the museum, saying that it "will one day rival the Smithsonian, Air & Space Museum, and Museum of Natural History."
