The Great GoogaMooga was supposed to give a boost to some of the restaurants that were hard hit by Hurricane Sandy, but instead it left them worse off than they started. Kasadela and Caracas Rockaway (both of which are still closed) were allowed to participate for free, in the hopes that the festival would help them recover some of the thousands they lost in the storm. But Serious Eats reports that even if the event hadn't been cancelled on Sunday, the "vendors would have been stuck with literal tons of leftovers," and either way are now out thousands more. [SE]
