Acclaimed Chicago chef Laurent Gras has talked about wanting to open a New York restaurant ever since he moved here over two years ago. He's been on Eater's Top Free Agent list, twice. Now, Grub Street notices a suspicious Craiglist job posting for what could very well be the chef's new restaurant. From the description:
Enduro, a new modern American grill is slated to open in early July with a relaxed dining experience and hospitality driven atmosphere. Our executive chef earned 3 Michelin stars at his previous restaurant in Chicago. This describes Laurent Gras and very few other chefs, especially in New York City. But, who knows? Maybe it's someone who worked with Gras at L20, or a vetaran of Alinea, like Matthew Chasseur.
This new restaurant, Enduro, will take over the old Outback Steakhouse space on Third Avenue, and it's slated to open this summer. Alan Rosen, the restaurateur behind Junior's, is one of the owners. More information as it becomes available.
UPDATE: Nope, no Laurent Gras here. The chef is actually a gentleman named Nathan Huntington, who worked at L20 in Chicago and, most recently, at Argent Restaurant. Laurent's next move remains a mystery.....
