More Rumors About Bowien's Orchard Street Project

Word on the street is that Danny Bowien is definitely planning to open a restaurant in the old Noodle Bar space on Orchard Street. Last week, Bowery Boogie reported that the Mission Chinese Food team had applied for a liquor license in that space for a "Mexican-Chinese" restaurant, which sounded a little too kooky to believe. But now Eater sources whisper that Bowien is indeed working on a Mexican restaurant (not a fusion restaurant) in the space with an opening slated for this fall. Bowien has not confirmed or denied these rumors. But let it be stated for the record that New York is going through some sort of Mexican restaurant craze right now.
