In addition to a restaurant, the SLS Hotel currently being built on Park Avenue South and 30th Street will have two lounges. The New York Post reports that one will be a rooftop bar with views of the skyline — Arash Azarbarzin, president of SBE, says it "will not be a nightclub." The other will be a smaller bar and lounge called S Bar, in the basement.
Last year when news broke of the development, celebrated chef José Andrés clarified that he was not planning on opening an outpost of the Bazaar at the SLS in New York but that he was consulting with the hotel group and helping them find the right fit for the space. That remains the case: "Jose Andres is our culinary director, and helping us find the right concept [for the hotel's restaurant] — we've interviewed a number of chefs," says Azarbarzin.
No word yet on an opening date for the hotel.
