A Donut Robot is a thing, and year-old Prospect Heights restaurant 606 R&D uses one to make popular old-fashioned doughnuts. Owners Ilene Rosen and Sara Dima bought it from East Hamptons' Dreesen's Excelsior Market, where it served up fried rolls of dough for decades before closing in 2004. Apparently 606 R&D sells 200 a day on the weekends. [SE]
