Jay Leno Cracks a Cronut Joke on The Tonight Show

New, 4 comments

It's not a very good joke, but yes, Jay Leno poked fun at the mania surrounding Dominique Ansel's doughnut-crossant hybrid on last night's episode of The Tonight Show. In the middle of his monologue, Leno quipped:

In New York City, people are paying as much as $100 to have a $5 Cronut delivered to their door. You know what a Cronut is? It's like this trendy new snack in New York. It's a combination of croissant and doughnut — it's a Cronut. People are paying $100 for it. These people are called midiots. They're halfway between moron and idiot. So you put them together and eat a Cronut...
Does this mean that Cronut Mania has peaked, or does this mean that Cronut Mania is picking up more steam? Tough call.

Leno also made several jokes about the Paula Deen scandal, and so did Jimmy Kimmel and Conan O'Brien. Kimmel had, perhaps, the best barb of the night: "Pork severing ties with Paula Deen is like spinach cutting ties with Popeye." Head over to Eater National for a complete roundup of the Deen jokes, with video, and check out a clip of Leno's Cronut quip below:
