Time Out New York has hired a new restaurant critic: Daniel S. Meyer. Don't confuse him with restaurateur Danny Meyer, because they're totally different people. Meyer replaces Jay Cheshes, who shuffled off to Buffalo earlier this year. Meyer's first review is already up — he gives three stars to Kajitsu.
TONY's announcement about his hiring does not include any biographical information, but some internet sleuthing reveals that Meyer is a Wesleyan grad (class of '08) who worked for several years as Mark Bittman's assistant, and he also worked for The Greene Grape for a stint, too. Meyer has thoroughly scrubbed his social media accounts of any photos, but Eater found one, and we're certain that it's him. Restaurateurs, feel free to print this out and tape it to the wall by the pass, if you like. You can find his official Twitter account here, his old Twitter account here, his Facebook page here, and his Instagram account here.
