Motor City Bar and Blarney Cove to Shutter This Week

New, 1 comment

20-year-old Ludlow Street rock club Motor City Bar hosted a packed farewell party last night. Bowery Boogie has pictures of the party, which kicked off in the afternoon and rolled till late in the evening. The bar will stay open through the end of the week. The landlord did not give the owners the option to renew their lease in February, but they were given an extension through the end of June.

In other dive bar news, the Blarney Cove on East 14th Street will close after service tomorrow night. The owner posted a message on Facebook over the weekend that notes: "Final count down has begun. Last day of the bar is now June 25th-Tuesday night. I will be there tomorrow night-Sunday and Tuesday night. So I better see you in person before the shutter the doors." Jeremiah Moss paid one last visit to the legendary dive over the weekend.
