Next month, Paul Liebrandt will kick open the doors to his casual restaurant, The Elm, and a steady stream of critics, bloggers, and food obsessives will file in. It's absolutely one of the year's most anticipated openings, and a huge project for Williamsburg. In an interesting move, The Elm crew invited some members of the press over to the restaurant to sample the dishes this week and last week. Those members of the press had iPhones with Instagram, and now photos of Liebrandt's new dishes are floating around the web. If you want to be surprised by the menu, turn away now. But if you don't care about surprises, here's a peek at what's in store:
Here are some of the dishes that were served at the preview, with links to the photos:
· Lamb neck with charred eggplant
· Foie gras with spiced plum gelee
· Charcuterie bread with Mangalitsa speck
· Turbot with peas, bacon, and lemongrass
· Chicken Kiev
· Crudite with green olive tuna cream
In a Times profile published earlier this month, Liebrandt also mentioned a quiche dish, steak frites, and soupe de poisson. The Elm is slated to open early next month.
