Beloved Chicago-based coffee chain Intelligentsia?with its cult-like following in the Windy City and L.A.?opened its first New York City location yesterday. Located in a niche inside the lobby of the brand-new High Line Hotel, this is the chain's ninth store total, and according to Serious Eats, it represents a big step in an aggressive national expansion planned for this year. The zinc bar has a custom espresso machine and pourover coffee using the Kalita Wave method, serving a selection of direct trade coffees. The location also reportedly sells baked goods from Mah Ze Dahr Bakery.

The coffee bar is eventually going to be even more integrated into the hotel's 118-year-old bones with both front and back courtyard seating, though those are both reportedly still in the works. It's open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., just steps from the Highline.
