Here's a look at Quality Italian, the coming Italian-American chophouse/spinoff of the seven-year-old Midtown restaurant Quality Meats. Initially projected to open sometime in the second half of this year, reps are now saying it should open in July. As you can see from the second photo above, a lot of work still needs to be done on the 200-seat, AvroKo-designed dining room, and the word in the neighborhood is that fall might be a better guess. Located just a block away from Quality Meats, the entrance for Quality Italian will be on the Sixth Avenue side of its building.
The kitchen is going to be run by Quality Meats's Scott Tacinelli, backed up by chef de cuisine Danny Chavez, a vet of flour + water in San Francisco, and executive sous Angela Rito, a Torrisi alum. The back of house team is rounded out by pastry chef Cory Colton, previously at AvroKo-designed and -owned The Thomas in Napa.
