Jonathan Wu and Wilson Tang Team Up for Fung Tu

Photo: The Lo-Down

Nom Wah Tea Parlor owner Wilson Tang is teaming up with former Per Se chef Jonathan Wu on a new restaurant at 22 Orchard Street on the Lower East Side. The Lo-Down notices that the team recently filed papers with the CB3 that describe this as a "creative Chinese" restaurant that will have about 34 tables plus a small bar. The name of the new place is Fung Tu.

Although the prices on a preview menu are low, expect something slightly more contemporary than the classic dim sum and traditional Chinese dishes served at Nom Wah. The sample menu includes dishes like smoked mussels in scallion oil, wheat noodles with pumpkin seeds and winter squash, and stir-fried squid with salted pork. Wu recently cooked at a pop-up at The Old Bowery Station, which is co-owned by Tang. More details on the Wu-Tang Clan's newest as they become available.
