New, 5 comments

1) East Village: This past weekend, the First Avenue location of Birdbath Green Bakery, part of the City Bakery mini-chain, closed its doors. Since 2005, City Bakery had done all of its baking and dough-mixing at that location. Those operations have moved to a larger kitchen near Union Square. [City Bakery, FitR]

2) Midtown: Indus Express on 48th Street between Fifth and Sixth avenues was shut down by Marshalls recently. It's now fully closed and its space is for rent. [Midtown Lunch]

3) East Village: Masak, a Singaporean restaurant on 13th Street near Avenue A, also shuttered recently. By the looks of the restaurant's Twitter feed, it appears to have happened at the end of March. [EV Grieve, Twitter]

4) Downtown Brooklyn: At the end of last month, Celeste Diner, a 25-year-old greasy spoon on Tillary Street, called it quits for good. [Brownstoner]

5) Gramercy: 33-year-old Capucine's Restaurant closed on April 1. [JVNY]

6) East Village: On Second Avenue near St Marks Place, Bar 82 closed recently. The last day for the neighborhood-y bar was March 31. [EV grieve]
