The fourth location of Dos Toros, the popular taqueria from former Third Eye Blind bassist Leo Kremer and his brother Oliver, opened today on Bedford Avenue in the space formerly occupied by the Turkish restaurant Saksuka. The new place, which is the chain's first venture outside of Manhattan sits right in the heart of Williamsburg, around the corner from the Bedford L. Just a little after noon there was already a line out the door, thanks to the opening day dollar menu (everything on the menu is just $1 each).
Inside, the new Dos Toros looks very familiar. The menu, which the Kremer brothers modeled after their favorite Bay Area taqueria, is exactly the same as the other branches, with Mission-style burritos, tacos, quesadillas, and platos all priced under $9. There are also chips, salsa and guacamole, plus sodas and a small selection of Mexican beers. Like the other branches, the Bedford Ave shop has exposed brick, reclaimed wood tables and benches, and hanging light fixtures. Even the layout looks the same, with counter service and seats for about 20 between four small tables and a row of stools in the window. The Brooklyn Dos Toros is opens at 11:30 a.m. on weekdays and 12 p.m. on weekends, and stays open through dinner.
