2013_4_PiratesDen.jpgEphemeral NY takes a look at 12 Gay Street, which was a speakeasy called the Pirates' Den during Prohibition and is said to be haunted today. It was, apparently, a little over-the-top with the pirate theme, featuring "clanking chains, clashing cutlasses, ship's lanterns, and patch-eyed buccaneer waiters," which made it less of a place for regular local drinkers than for gawking tourists.
