Ben Towill and Phil Winser, the guys behind the two-and-a-half year-old Fat Radish and its younger sibling The Leadbelly, are branching out of the friendly environs of the Lower East Side with a new project uptown. Grub Street learns that the guys have signed on to open a new restaurant in the former location of 212 Restaurant and Bar, which shuttered after a Super Bowl Sunday fire several years ago. The concept will likely be similar to that of The Fat Radish, though the exact menu will of course differ in places.
When it opens this fall, this will be Towill and Winser's third restaurant in NYC, after plans for their Thai street food spot Two Good Traders were axed earlier this year. No name for this project yet.
