Xi'an Famous Foods Opening in Midtown, Eyeing UWS

Flushing-born, rapidly-expanding Western Chinese chain Xi'an Famous Foods is heading to Midtown, with a new location opening later this month. The Daily Meal gets word that in anticipation of the Midtown lunch rush, owner Jason Wang has installed two separate kitchens in the former Karam space at 24 W. 45th St. One is exclusively for takeout orders, the other reserved for customers dining in.

When asked about further expansion, Wang says that there are no plans to do another location of Biang!, the sit-down restaurant he recently opened in Flushing. He is, however, scouting locations on the Upper West Side for a new Xi'an location, hoping to close in on one this week. That could open sometime this summer.

The new Midtown location opens on April 22.
