FLATIRON — On April 22, to celebrate Earth Day, Eataly will have some of its local, sustainable producers giving out samples of their products throughout the store. All of Eataly's restaurants will also serve special Earth Day dishes, and that evening Wil Edwards, founder of the Food Society Journal, will host a class at La Scuola to discuss the origins of the ingredients of a locally sourced dinner as the mealis prepared for guests. The class lasts from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. and tickets, which are $100 per person, must be reserved online. Also, all Batali-Bastianich restaurants will be serving Earth Day-inspired dishes and handing out seed packets of Genovese basil to take home with them. [EaterWire]
WILLIAMSBURG — Maison Premiere will broadcast the Kentucky Derby live on their old-fashioned radio on Saturday, May 4. Alongside their regular menu they'll have Derby Day specials like bourbon-cured ham sandwiches and strawberry pecan cheesecake, and of course a whole list of juleps, ranging from the classic to ones made with rosemary syrup and vermouth or raspberry syrup and sherry. FRY DAY — To wrap up Burger Week, Eater National has a Heat Map featuring the burger's best friend: french fries. The map lists the best new fries from restaurants across the country, which range from oxtail chili cheese fries to fries cooked in lamb fat, to the classic pommes frites at Andrew Carmellini's brand new Lafayette.
