ABC Cocina has been in the works for months now. The restaurant?Jean-Georges Vongerichten's tapas concept coming to the former Pipa space in the Flatiron District's ABC Carpet & Home store?was announced last summer, with initial word that it would open in November. The Post then updated that target with word of a mid-February opening, which quickly became a projected April opening. In early March, Zagat reported that the restaurant would open on Apri 15.
DNAinfo was able to get a sneak peek of the space this week, reporting that there's no opening date yet and that the team there is trying to be as quiet as possible about the new restaurant. The general manager refused to give his name to the website, but did say: "We don't have an opening date set yet. We want to open quietly. We don't want any fanfare."
Whenever it does open, ABC Cocina will join the much-celebrated ABC Kitchen in the complex, as well as the incoming market concept that JGV is installing in the former Conran Shop space there.
