By the end of this week, using the bracket above, the readers of Eater will determine which burger deserves the title of Most Awesome Hamburger in New York City. Unlike a March Madness-style bracket where the players are seeded, in this competition, the heats are arranged so that similar burgers will go up against each other in the preliminary rounds. So, Bill's will face Shake Shack, Corner Bistro will face J.G Melon, etc. On Thursday, the champion from the Fancypants Division will go up against the champion from the Budget Burger Division, and by Friday afternoon at 5 p.m., the people will have chosen the Most Awesome Hamburger in New York City.
The bracket currently includes 14 of New York's most popular burgers, plus two wildcard slots. Is there a burger that you think deserves to fill one of these slots? By all means, drop your suggestions in the comments or send them to the tipline. Voting in the Ultimate New York City Burger Bracket will commence Tuesday morning.
