Pizza Box, a Greenwich Village pizzeria that has served slices on Bleecker Street for 56 years, is closing soon to make way for a Spanish fast food chain by the name of 100 Montaditos. Although the management has not announced an exact closing date yet, the owner of Montaditos tells DNAinfo that the chain hopes to open in the space by July. And when it does open, the shop will offer a menu of over 100 tiny sandwiches, priced between $1 and $3.

Although Pizza Box is not one of New York's best pizzerias, it serves a decent slice and the space has a lot of character. The restaurant has a garden in the back, which is rare for a slice parlor, and that signage can't be beat. The operator of Montaditos says that it will offer "affordable elegance with charcuterie and jamon at a reasonable price."
