Marty Markowitz is expected to announce plans today to build a year-round theater in Coney Island that will occupy part of the landmarked Childs Restaurant building on the Boardwalk. The Times repots that the developer plans to "revive the 90-year-old Childs building as a restaurant," and change the western side of the building to make way for the theater's backstage area. The new theater project will probably open in about two years from now. For more on the legacy of the space, check out Eater's history of Childs at Coney Island from a few years ago.
