Last Weekend at Franny's, Grillin' on the Bay, and More

Looking for something to do this weekend? Here are five choice dining events going on around the city:

frannyshrn-thumb.jpg1) Last Weekend at Franny's
When: Today & Tomorrow
Where: Franny's
What: This weekend marks the final days of Prospect Heights favorite Franny's. The beloved restaurant will close up shop on Sunday after service, so for anyone wanting one last taste of their clam pie in the original location, this weekend is your last chance. Otherwise, you'll have to wait until April 8, when Franny's reopens in a new space down the street.

grillinonthebay2013.jpg2) Grillin' on the Bay
When: Today, 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Where: 2606 East 19th St.
What: The ninth annual Grillin' on the Bay kicks off this very moment in Brooklyn. This year's headliner is Fletcher's Brooklyn Barbecue's pitmaster Matt Fisher, who co-founded the event. There will be various barbecue-themed cookoffs throughout the day, including competitions for best chicken wings, veggies, pork ribs, and chili. Local beer, wine, and spirits will be also available. The event is free with proceeds going to benefit the host site, St. Mark's School.

2012_max_sussman12.jpg3) Vegetarian Cooking Class
When: Today, 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Where: The Brooklyn Kitchen
What: Looks like chef Max Sussmanhas found something to fill his post-Roberta's days with, other than Battlestar Galactica, of course. This afternoon, he's hosting a vegetarian cooking class at the Brooklyn Kitchen. This hands-on class will feature hearty vegetarian entrees, like quinoa polenta and veggie galettes, which guests will make and then eat at the end of the day. Wine will be provided by Williamsburg's Vine Wine.

brooklyn-oenology.png4) Oysterfest
When: Today, starts at 2 p.m.
Where: Brooklyn Oenology
What: Williamsburg winery Brooklyn Oenology is throwing an oyster eating extravaganza. They're offering all-you-can-eat $1 Blue Point oysters locally sourced from Long Island and topped with house-made mignonette sauce, and discounts on select glasses of wine. The deal is available starting at 2 p.m. until all the oysters are gone.

delposto-thumb.jpg5) The Art of Stuffed Pasta
When: Today, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Where: Del Posto
What: Here's one for the pasta lovers with a little dough to spend. Later this morning, Del Posto is hosting a four-hour cooking class and luncheon. The class kicks off with an interactive two-hour demo led by Del Posto's chef de cuisine, Matt Abdoo, in which students will learn how to shape and stuff various types of pastas. The class ends with a family-style lunch of pasta and wine. The class is $200 per person, and includes a take-home pasta kit.

Hanson-Mezzanine.jpgAlso of Note: The winter edition of the Brooklyn Flea, located inside the former Williamsburg Savings Bank, is open for business this weekend from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. with various food-slinging vendors, including Red Hook Lobster Pound, Yuji Ramen, and Dough. Looking to try a new restaurant this weekend? Try Williamsburg's new race track themed tavern OTB or Spring Street's casual New American restaurant Cherrywood Kitchen.
