BOOK CLUB ? Eater National takes a look at Family Table, the staff meal cookbook from Danny Meyer's Union Square Hospitality Group. While the restaurant staff meal cookbook trend has gotten "a little bit tedious," this one features recipes for dishes that are exactly the sorts of things people like to imagine staffs get to enjoy before service, and in this case Meyer's staffs probably actually do. RED HOOK ? From Friday to Sunday this weekend, the Red Hook bar and music hall Jalopy is hosting a Cajun Festival by Lafayette, La.-based Freetown Produce, featuring cooking classes by Acadiana artist Toby Rodriguez (who appeared in the fantastic Louisiana episode of No Reservations) and music by the Revelers. AWARDS SEASON ? Star Chefs has announced the winners of its Rising Stars Chef Awards. Winners include chefs like Angelo Romano of The Pines and the guys from Battersby, and other industry professionals like sommelier Thomas Pastuszak of The Nomad. WILLIAMSBURG ? Brooklyn Star is hosting a golf outing on May 6, to benefit Heritage Radio. The 'burg bar/restaurant will host pre- and post-golf drinks and festivities (with snacks by a handful of other restaurants), plus act as the pick up/drop off point for a chartered bus to Minisceongo Golf Course in Pomona, NY.
