834 Seventh Avenue has been sitting empty since the famed Stage Deli closed its doors at the end of last year after 75 years in business. But by this summer, that will no longer be the case. DNAinfo hears that the prime Midtown space is to be taken over by a "high-end pub and restaurant".
The forthcoming Irish project is not yet named, but comes from a trio of New York restaurateurs, including Sean Fitzpatrick, who already own three other Irish pubs in the neighborhood: McGee's, Oldcastle, and The Irish Pub. According to Fitzpatrick, this one will standout from the pack because it's "more restaurant-based" than the others and is a "top-class pub and deli."
The new project is slated to open by this coming July.
