JBF Gives America's Classics Award to Keens

The James Beard Foundation has announced the winners of this year's America's Classics Award, which is "given to restaurants that have timeless appeal and are beloved for quality food that reflects the character of their community." And one of these awards is going to Keens in Midtown. Founded in 1885, the restaurant is full of memorabilia from old New York, and it still serves some of the finest steaks in the city. Check out Eater's Living Legends piece on Keens for more on the restaurant's history, or take a look at Daniel Krieger's shots of the restaurant from 2010 (above).

The other 2013 winners are Kramarczuk's in Minneapolis, Sacramento political landmark Frank Fat's, Nashville's Prince's Hot Chicken Shack, and C.F. Folks in D.C. The winners will be celebrated at the James Beard Awards in New York on May 6.
