Former Lavo Waitress Sues Club Over Hearing Loss

New, 25 comments

A former Lavo waitress is suing Midtown's most popular club, claiming that working in the noisy club caused serious hearing loss and has left her unemployable and depressed. Margaret Clemente worked at the club for two years, and says that she first noticed issues with her hearing after a year of working there.

Clemente says that she filed complaints about her working conditions, but Lavo management was only willing to give her and fellow employees cheap ear plugs instead of the custom hearing aids that she claims management secured for themselves. Clemente claims that her requests to become a door person or be transferred to a quieter section were denied, so she kept working in the club and is now partially deaf in one ear and hasn't been able to find another nightclub job because of her disability.
