Red Hook Lobster Pound, besieged by Hurricane Sandy's floodwaters like much of its neighborhood, is really, truly, finally reopening this Friday. Co-owner Susan Povich told the Times last month that she hoped to reopen in time for Valentine's Day, but that got pushed back a bit (as these things tend to do). But now the word is that the restaurant's triumphant return will coincide with the grand reopening of the neighborhood's Fairway. Red Hook: it's back!
Devotees of those super-popular lobster rolls will also be glad to know that Big Red, the food truck version of the restaurant, is also on its way back. It's getting repaired in Bushwick right now and should be back on the streets by April.
And when it reopens on Friday, expect a better, smarter Red Hook Lobster Pound. Maybe even with fries.
