Umami Burger CONFIRMED for World Financial Center

New, 9 comments

The World Financial Center's ongoing renovations are going to include a $40 million second-floor food court featuring as many as 14 different restaurants. While that itself isn't all that noteworthy (food courts, yawn), here's something that is: of the eight restaurants that have already signed on, one is a confirmed location of Umami Burger, the four-year-old, mega-hyped LA burger chain that's planning to take over New York by the year 2014. Its arrival in a Brookfield Properties development was rumored back in January.

But that's not the only noteworthy restaurant coming to the food court. It's also going to include new locations of the Cambodian sandwich chain Num Pang, the grilled cheese shop Little Muenster, and Dos Toros Taqueria. It'll also have Chop't, Dig Inn, Sprinkles Cupcakes, and a Skinny Pizza, a Long Island-based healthy pizza shop.

The food court?which could get up to six more restaurants?will be located in a gallery above Peter Poulakakos's 25,000-square-foot, Eataly-esque market on the ground floor. No word on when any of this is going to open.
